Edwardine Murphy, nee Gunterberg, 87, passed away June 5, 2016 at Nazarethville Nursing Home, Des Plaines. Mrs. Murphy, the daughter of Edward and Caroline (Bulfer) Gunterberg, was born in Chicago on April 7, 1929. She was a graduate of St. Xavier University, Chicago, and married Edward T. Murphy on November 10, 1951. Mrs. Murphy was an avid duplicate and bridge player and volunteered for various charities. Survivors include four children, Karen (Charles) Boza of Aurora, Edward (Jean) Murphy of Des Plaines, Joyce (Christopher) Rahn of Danville, IL and Therese Murphy of Palatine, son-in-law Timothy O’Neill of Cincinnati, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and by her daughter, Jayne O’Neill.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 8 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Road, Mount Prospect, and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at St. Alphonsus Liguori Church, 411 N. Wheeling Road, Prospect Heights, Illinois 60070. The funeral Mass will follow immediately at 11 a.m.
